PRIME is for children preparing to enter elementary school. They can begin before learning addition or subtraction, or use the course to strengthen the understanding behind sums they already know.
A FEW THINGS PARENTS ASK
No. PRIME starts with number and quantity, shape and space, and logic and classification. Addition and subtraction within 10 are introduced later, after children have built a stronger understanding of number relationships.
Sums are one part of early mathematics. PRIME also develops number order, comparison, composition and decomposition, shape, space, classification and patterns. Children who know simple sums can still benefit from strengthening these foundations. Talk to us about your child’s current understanding.
Reciting numbers in order and understanding quantity are different skills. PRIME explores what each number represents, how quantities compare and how numbers can be made and split apart.
PRIME prepares children for the transition to elementary school by developing foundational concepts. Completing the entire Grade 1 curriculum in advance is not the course goal. Children build experience observing, manipulating and understanding mathematical ideas.
No. Lessons use manipulatives, visual cards, shapes, puzzles, sorting games and practical tasks. Children build concepts through hands-on learning before gradually moving into basic written work.
